We are building up a new world
Do not sit idly by
Do not remain neutral
Do not rely on this broadcast alone
We are only as strong as our signal
There is a war going on for your mind
If you are thinking you are winning
Resistance is victory
Defeat is impossible
Your weapons are already in hand
Reach within you and find the means by which to gain your freedom

Fight with tools
Your fate and that of everyone you know depends on it

Who is Your Character?

Full Name: Michael Alexander Corner
Nicknames: Mike, Mikey, MAC, Corner, MC
Age/Birthday: 22// April 18, 1980
House and Years Attended: 1991-1997
Blood Status: Half
Occupation (if applicable): N/A--- former book store owner
Alliance: Order
Status in Society: On the run, living at the Italy Safe house.
Boggart: Being imprisoned. Aka a dementor.
Patronus: A bee.

Personality (include several weaknesses and strengths): ."It may help to understand human affairs to be clear that most of the great triumphs and tragedies of history are caused, not by people being fundamentally good or fundamentally bad, but by people being fundamentally people."

Humans, in general, fascinate Michael. Where they came from, how they developed, where they're going, what makes them tick. The growth of our species also interests him on a sociological level. It's all about the things they leave out of history books. He could spend hours studying ancient cultures and the mysteries they hold, and then spend the next day reading articles on the latent causes of mental disorders in third-world countries.

The idea of something bigger than himself as always appealed to Michael, though he is skeptical about the idea of blind faith. The belief in an omniscient, omnipotent being contradicts his beliefs in science, which states that there must be a logical explanation for everything. Even magic has components and a specific order to the way it works, although the erratic nature in which it develops suggests that even magic can defy reason. As of yet, Michael himself has yet to tie himself to any specific belief in particular, but he surely enjoys talking about what ideas appeal to him.

Michael has had his share of girlfriends over the past few years, some merely summer flings, some actual school romances. Strong women appeal to him, one who can hold her own against him- who gives as good as she gets.

And it can be safely said that Michael is loyal. He has a strong sense of the word family, and that extends beyond blood ties. Terry and Anthony are as much like brothers to him as Evan. He has no qualms about teasing them or calling them out on their shit, but if an outsider should attempt the same he will defend them to his dying breath.

Family and Friends (list relationships with them):
Jonas Nolan Corner [Dad; 46]
Michael has always looked up to his dad and admired the magical ability and the bravery that his dad showed on a regular basis. It was after a long talk with his father that Michael got the courage to join the Order and fight the good fight. Michael often says that if it weren’t for his dad, he might just be another kid too afraid to do anything.
Rachael Anna Porter-Douglass [Mum; 45]
It was Michaels mother who taught him right and wrong, who put the love of knowledge and careful planning in his head, without her influence, he might have been a Gryffindor and reckless and far in over his head right about now. He would do anything to keep his mum safe.
Calvin James Douglass [Stepdad; 48]
Michael likes his stepdad and appreciates that he cares about his mum just as much as he does. He’s not particularly close to him seeing as he came in about the same time Michael shipped out for school, but he is nothing but pleasant and has respect for him.
Evan Michael Douglass [Brother; 13]
He wants to be a good role model for his brother and keeps regular contact with him in hopes of being the older brother that he has always wanted to be. However, sometimes keeping him safe counteracts always being there for him and he always feels bad about it. He’s trying to make up for it.
Emmaline Nicole (Emma) and Allyssa Alexandria (Ally) Douglass [Sisters; 9 and 6]
He would do anything for his baby sisters. End of story. He wishes he could be around them more.

Biography (three paragraphs minimum): The story of Michael Alexander Corner starts much in the same way that anyone else’s story starts, with a small appreciative love that bloomed into something more. His parents, Jonas Corner and Rachael Porter, met when they were in their early twenties. Jonas was a half-blooded wizard and a curse breaker; Olivia had just graduated university with a degree in Childhood education. The couple, though in no way perfect, were a happy couple who were still glowing a year after their wedding when Olivia found herself pregnant. Each family (the Corners and the Porters) had insight, ideas as to where and how to raise a half-wizarding, half-muggle child while the Death Eaters were beginning to worm their way into unknowing homes. The war was raging around them and stress was pressuring the couple.

Jonas wanted to join the Order. Rachael wanted to seek safety for her budding family. Arguments ensued. Who was Rachael to ask Jonas to ignore his ideals and let others suffer? Who was Jonas to ask Rachael to not only risk her life, but the life of their unborn child? The heated argument was not the first argument they had ever had, but it would be their last argument as a couple. Maybe they weren’t as strong as they once thought. The pair split ways, only a few weeks before Michaels birth, only a short while before the end of the war.

Rachael was heartbroken. Yes, they had split on mutual terms, but she had still been whole heartedly and completely in love with Jonas. Still, life continued, Rachael changed her name back to Porter and held her son at the center of her world. She did everything she possibly could for him, spoiling him and doting over him. She enrolled him in a muggle primary school as soon as he was old enough and instilled in him a love of books and learning early on.

Of course, Jonas saw his son too, but far less frequently, Jonas’s curse breaking had him traveling all over the world but he always set aside a month to be the stable father that his son needed. Every June, Jonas Corner took off of work and actually lived in his flat with his son, being the best father that he could be. This is how Michael learned about the wizarding world and how he developed his love for charms and magic.

A lot of life changing things happened to Michael when he turned ten. His mother had just remarried a man named Calvin Douglass. Michael was fond of the older man was pleased that his mom was so happy when he was around. He had never been delusional into thinking that his parents would get back together and this was for the best. There was no resentment of the new man, no stereotypical fight for authority. The three of them lived rather peacefully and while Michael never grew to call him dad, he still appreciated the guy and loved him like a second father. Only a few months after the wedding did Rachael find herself pregnant with Calvin’s child, Michael would be a brother.

Later that year, Michael received his letter to Hogwarts and while it wasn’t unexpected it was no less exciting for him. He spent that entire summer with his father (though he regularly wrote to his mum to make sure that she and the baby were ok) learning all sorts of various things about the wizarding world. When it came time to leave for school, Michael was reluctant to leave, his mother was expecting any day and he wanted to be around to be a good older brother to the little boy who was about to be born. But he did, he boarded that train and he has never regretted it in his life. He wound up sharing a compartment with a few other kids, most notably a quieter kid named Terry.

Sorting wasn’t hard for Michael, though it briefly considered Gryffindor due to a passion and bravery instilled in him by Jonas, however his love of books and words and learning and magic and the excitement he felt at learning how to master this strange new talent won the hat over. He followed his new friend Terry over to Ravenclaw, soon to be joined by future best friend Anthony. A few days into the school year, Michael got a letter from his Mum about the birth of Evan Michael Douglass, his new baby brother.

The rest of the years were a beaten path of troubles, misadventure and books, lots of books. Slitting his summers between his fathers house and his mothers enjoying both cultures just as much as he had before. His second year brought the question of blood status, of the true heir of Slytherin and just who was attacking the poor muggleborns? Why did it matter? Everyone was the same, magic users were magic users were magic users. Why would someone do that?

Third year brought the terror of an escaped prisoner and the joy of a new sibling for Michael, his sister Emmaline Nicole Douglass. Fourth year was a mass amount of excitement, the tournament and at least a slight bit of normalcy in their lives. How dangerous could it be? Through the whole year there was no fear, no talk of Voldemort, no talk of blood, at least until the very end when schoolmate Cedric Diggory died.

The most important year to Michael was his fifth year, when he was able to act to his fullest ability. He would stand up for the weak, the younger students and anyone who needed a helping hand. He refused to sit back and instead, joined Dumbledore’s Army. There was a surge about it all, the rule breaking and defending yourself and making a difference. All of it came together for Michael.

His sixth year, seemed boring in comparison and the Army fizzled out. He still stood up for those who needed it and became almost a hero amongst the younger years but all of it felt less organized and less earth shattering without the Army. That was, until the end of the year, when the school went under attack. Michael was one of the first students to jump into battle, making sure that none of the younger students were hurt and attempting to push back the Death Eaters. His final sibling was born around the same time as Dumbledores funeral, Allyssa Alexandria Douglass.

Against his family’s wishes, he returned for his last year at Hogwarts because he didn’t want to see bad things happen at the school he cherished. He wanted to protect everything Hogwarts stood for. He spent a lot of time protecting younger children and often getting himself in trouble. He knew that in the end it was all worth it, after all, he would want someone to look after his siblings.

After school, he wanted to do something that would allow him to both help the Order undercover as well as be an easy-to-ditch job should he ever get caught. As a result he took up working at a tiny bookshop run by and old man. The old man took quite a liking to Michael and a year after Michael began working there, the old man who owned it retired and left the store in the hands of Michael who he was certain would take care of it. He ran the store for about four years before Anthony asked him to go on the run with him.

Recently, Michael has moved his families to America. His dad has been tagging along with his mum, stepdad and younger siblings as a matter of security for the muggle family. He went to make sure they were settled and completely warded before returning back to the war.

[Private to the Order]
You have been a busy lot while I was away…

[Private to Friends of Michael]

I’m home and I’m safe. I’m going to begin work as usual, though seeing my family was nice. My siblings have grown up a lot, which happens I guess when you do not see people for long amounts for time. I’m sorry I went so long with out speaking, I left my journal in my closet in Italy. Oops.
